Knopf MapGuides are small enough to fit in most purses so they're portable and convenient. Each page has a foldout map of city neighborhoods so each area is detailed and easy to read. The pages also list many places of interest and include a brief description. I've been traveling with Knofp MapGuides for several years and would not use anything else. Last year we traveled to Paris and on the way to the city from the airport the taxi driver could not find the location of the apartment where we were staying. I took out my Knopf MapGuide and showed him, that's how he found the place! Unfortunately, in the rush to finally get out of the cab, I forgot my book in the taxi. I was lost in Paris but I'm sure the taxi driver has been much more efficient finding his way around town. I promptly ordered another map from Amazon.Product details

I took this MapGuide on my recent trip to Buenos Aires as a compliment to a full Buenos Aires guide from Rough Guides. My intention was to use it as map for the times when I don't want to carry a full book. Instead, I found myself using a free map I was given at a hotel. This MapGuide is well designed and good for exploring one area at a time but doesn't provide a good overview of the city and the information contained is no substitute for a proper tour guide.
Graphically pleasing, very informative, and, best of all, fits in your pocket. Organized by neighborhood, so if you find yourself in Belgrano, for example, the map page and sights of interest are all together. Dan
My wife picked this guidebook up in a travel store because it was city specific. She was delighted to discover once in Buenos Aires that it is an ideal guide to this city. Buenos Aires is quite spread out and lends itself to district by district exploration. The categories for each area include restaurants, cafes, bars,shopping,and points of interest. The maps are excellent, and the design of the book, in which the maps fold out conveniently within each district section, is both clever and efficient. She and our adult daughter loved it--supplementing it with an Eyewitness "Top 10 Buenos Aires" to get an overview and another point of view. We will look for other Knopf Mapguides whenever we travel in the future.
I am not one to pour through books on places I plan to visit, but would rather have all the best sights, restaurants, nightlife, and maps all in a small, simple to use guidemap. I loved the Insight Guides Fleximaps, but those are going out of print (from what I can tell) and these are even better!! I used this in Buenos Aires last week and all of the suggestions were spot-on. The maps were accurate, and navigating the booklet to find what you want could not be easier. My only complaint was that there was not an overall top 10 must-see sights, etc, for the entire city. Rather, it is broken down by area, so you really don't know what priority to give things. This could be improved in the future by a list in the front of the book that simply lists the top 5 or 10 sights overall, then you go into the sub-sections to look in those areas for other sights, restaurants, cafes, etc. Awesome guides though...I am going to rely on these solely for every city that it has them for in the future.

Simple Whenever I travel to a city that has a Knopf Map Guide, I buy it. Easy to carry, accurate maps, and usually the best guide to restaurants, sites, and other items of a traveler's interest, all in a small package. I also make notes in them and save them in the event I return or if I want to explain something to another prospective traveler. In short, if I could only take one travel guide, this is it.
The Knopf Guides are a nice travel companion! The books are divided into six section/districts, each section has a fold out map that identifies top attractions in addition to restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping. The books also contain other important fact about local transportation, telephone codes, events diary and more. All this information and it fits in a jacket pocket. I own six of these book, and never travel internationally without one.
